Neonatal Resuscitation Instructor Program
Description
Instructor component of the AAP/AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). This course provides a guide for teaching the individual lessons that make up the NRP curriculum. It follows the recommendations and requirements set forth in the Instructor’s Manual for Neonatal Resuscitation, Fifth Edition.
Course Objectives
- Recall how evidence based guidelines developed into Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) guidelines.
- Restate how the NRP is designed.
- Discuss the different formats for NRP instruction.
- List Hospital Based Instructor (HBI) responsibilities for implementing a NRP course.
- Identify adult learning principles and strategies to deal with adult learners having difficulty.
- Describe proper use and evaluation of the written test and performance checklists.
- Demonstrate how to submit course rosters to the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics).
- Name some additional resources for NRP instructors.

The Children's Medical Center (OH-042/6/1/11) is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Ohio Nurses Association (OBN-001-91), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

Faculty: NRP Regional Trainer(s)
Target Audience: Physicians, Respiratory Therapists, RNs, and Physician Assistants with experience in delivery room care of newborns or critical care nursery, with ongoing delivery room experience or educational/clinical responsibilities in a hospital or medical facility, have excellent clinical skills, and an ability to teach.
1. Participants must have a current NRP card
(have completed all of the lessons, 1-9, formerly 1-7)
2. Participants must have their manager's recommendation
(indicated by a signature on the registration form).
