Description

This course will provide an overview of the anatomy, physiology, development, and common issues encountered by late pre-term infant.  This course compliments the PCEO course Before 39 Weeks.

Define late pre-term gestation

Discuss differences in physiology, anatomy and development of the late pre-term infant         

  1. Review common complications encountered by the late pre-term infant.
  2. Discuss breastfeeding issues and strategies for the late pre-term infant.
  3. Review assessment and management of the late pre-term infant.
  4. Identify parent teaching points to be addressed prior to discharge of a late pre-term infant.

The Children’s Medical Center (OH-042/6/1/11) is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Ohio Nurses Association (OBN-001-91), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Co-provided by PCEO

Faculty:   Experienced level III NICU RNs and/or neonatal nurse practitioners

Target Audience:  Nurses, nursing assistants, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals caring for infants born in the late pre-term period.
